Mahogany cased wall clock - Dobbyn & Son, Dublin. Circa 1880

A quality single fusee movement with an enamel painted dial with roman numerals and Dobbyn's signature and city of work - Dublin. Fusee spreads the power of the mainspring evenly, which makes the timekeeping more accurate and stable for clocks of this period.

The Dobbyn family name was synonymous with clockmaking in Dublin from 1842 right up to 1926. They were watch, clock and chronometer makers. In 1855 George Dobbyn is noted as being Watchmaker and Clockmaker to Her Majesty's offices and the Irish Railways. s are also noted as Watch, Clock and Timepiece Makers to the Hon.Board of Public Works and Irish Railways. DobbynDobbyn & Son traded from 65 Dame St. Dublin.

This is a quality, robust clock in great condition.

As with all clocks from Timepiece, this clock is for sale in fully restored condition.
