Timepiece Antique Clocks
Testimonials

B. Lawlor - Netherlands
"When we first entered Kevin and Carols shop we knew we wanted to purchase a clock but had very little knowledge on exactly what we should be looking for. We need not have worried as Kevin and Carol took a lot of time to explain the different types of clock in their shop to help us understand and identify exactly what we were after. After coming back on three separate occasions (they are very patient!) we finally chose one. Now back in the Netherlands we are really very happy with it. I think that half of the joy of buying something is the buyer / seller interaction you get. At timepiece you certainly get this and walk away knowing a lot more than you did before! We will definitely be back."

"I purchased my first Irish clock from Kevin about 15 years ago while on a Dublin holiday. Several years later Kevin found me a wonderful Irish Chippendale clock made by Sam Lahee of Wexford. Service is excellent and shipping is flawless. If you are shipping to a non European Union country you will save paying the VAT tax which can help defray some of the shipping cost. You have an heirloom piece in your home. An Irish clock is an investment, last year in Southeastern Massachusetts a person arrived at an estate sale at 3:00 AM, driving 2 hours in order to be first in line to claim the Irish clock listed in the newspaper ad for a 9:00 am sale. Timepiece is the best source for antique clocks in Ireland, a must to visit on your next Dublin holiday."

"We happened upon Kevin and Carol Chellar's shop, Timepiece Antique Clocks during a recent trip to Dublin. The look of the shop intrigued us so we went in on a lark. Kevin and Carol were so gracious and welcoming. Their obvious passion for their work opened up a whole new world for us. Every step of our clock purchase - from questions to decisions to purchase to shipping was fantastic. Our 1810 J. Waugh & Sons of Dublin clock arrived in perfect condition in Seattle, Washington, USA. We are sure that this purchase may just be the first of several for us!"

"As a collector, one sources antique clocks in a number of ways - dealers, auctions, other collectors and the Internet being some of the usual places. Invariably, you are at risk and many altered and damaged clocks are routinely sold as being the "real deal" and high prices are sought for collectable items. I have dealt with Timepiece for almost 20 years and the high quality and integrity of the pieces purchased by me over that period of time has not varied. Of course, Emptor Caveat always applies but when you deal with Timepiece, what you see (and what they say about it) is what you get."

"My experience with Timepiece was simply great. The communication was very complete and the portrayal of the clocks perfect. All my questions were answered quickly and accurately and the clocks greatly exceeded my expectations. The clocks arrived as anticipated and in perfect condition. Packing was very secure. I would heartily recommend these folks and expect to shop with them many more times."

"Kevin and Carol were incredibly knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. The clock was shipped it a timely manner to the US, and was crated beautifully. We love it, and will always think of our pleasant experience in Dublin when we look at it! Thank you!"

"I have been dealing with Kevin for almost 30 years and over that time we have bought a George III Irish longcase and several French mantel clocks. Kevin has always been most generous with his time and advice and provides a very reliable after sales service for the lifetime of the client if not of the clock!"

Jim Cavanagh, St.Louis, MO

"I searched the world over and finally landed upon a place called Timepiece!

There we found an antique Barograph in Tiger Maple, beautiful condition and with a family connection as carved on the rear panel was the crest of the Leinster Brigade. The Cavanagh Clan, "Caomhanach" were the Kings of Leinster for many years. Needless to say this was the prize.

We made contact with Kevin and Carol of Timepiece and they just took over from there. Every detail attended to with precision and true expertise. As I mentioned, I searched the world over, flew 4000 miles and found this treasure just a five minute walk from the Brooks Hotel where we stayed our first night in Dublin.

Timepiece delivered the Barograph to the Hotel wrapped up safe and sound for the Presentation Dinner that evening and even recovered it from the Hotel for crating and shipment to the USA where it arrived in perfect condition.

Kevin & Carol didn't know it but they received a standing ovation from the Cavanagh's that evening! Now the Barograph sits atop the mantel above the Hearth for all to see and forever remember that one Magical Week in Ireland and all the wonderful people that made it happen!

On a side note, I think Carol must have handled most of the details, everything went as scheduled without a hitch!"

"The Charles Morgan 18th century long case clock which had been in a dearly loved aunt's house in Switzerland for over 50 years was finally coming back to Dublin following her death. It was part of a consignment of family furniture being shipped by a Swiss removal expert. On the delivery day at one heart-stopping moment the brass face and movement fell crashing to the floor shattering the bell and damaging the mechanism. Kevin had been on stand-by to re-assemble the clock on arrival, but instead we gathered the fractured items and delivered them to Timepiece feeling pretty miserable and wondering if we would ever see the clock working again. Kevin worked on the clock for several weeks and then kept it for a further month or so in his workshop to make sure all was well. To our great joy the clock is now tick-tocking and ringing the hours away perfectly. We are grateful to Kevin for his great skill in restoring the clock and for returning this treasured heirloom to the family. By the way the website is excellent!"
